Barely did this incredible building justice. Detail like this just can’t be captured in a quick one hour plein air. Suggestion and mood are two things great artists do effortlessly. Still always a struggle for me.

I brought my travel gouache kit with me. There wasn’t anywhere really to sit from the vantage I wanted so I just stood in the sidewalk. It was a trick to balance the tray of paints, water, and paper. By the end my arm was completely numb. But it was pretty exhilarating painting in the middle of a bust area just transitioning into evening.
